Bram Bogart was a Dutch-Belgian artist known for his highly material, almost sculptural paintings. He worked with thick layers of paint and self-made paint mixtures, placing colour, texture and the physical presence of the material at the centre of his work.
From the 1950s onwards Bogart worked in cities including Paris and Brussels. In 1970 he represented Belgium at the Venice Biennale. His work was exhibited internationally and is held in collections including Tate, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, S.M.A.K. and Museum Voorlinden.
