Victor Bonato was a German artist best known for his experimental work with glass and mirrors. From the late 1960s onwards he became known for distorted mirror objects in which reflection and perception take centre stage. Through often minimal interventions, he transformed everyday materials and objects, giving them a new and sometimes poetic meaning.
Bonato co-founded the artists’ group K66 in 1966 and also realised numerous works for public space. His work received several awards, including the August-Macke-Preis and the Kunstpreis der Künstler.
