Collection: Jiri Kolár

Jiří Kolář (1914, Protivín – 2002, Prague) was a Czech poet and visual artist renowned internationally for his collages and experimental art. He was imprisoned between 1952 and 1953 for criticizing the communist regime in his poetry collection The Liver of Prometheus. Kolář lived in Paris from 1980 and obtained French citizenship in 1984. He returned to the Czech Republic with his wife in 1997.
