Collection: Milan Knížák

Milan Knížák (1940, Pilsen) is a Czech artist renowned for his involvement with the Fluxus movement. His diverse artistic practice spans painting, sculpture, object art, performance, and experimental music. After studying mathematics, Knížák taught at various institutions, including the University of Kentucky, UCLA, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.

He has curated numerous Fluxus exhibitions and festivals across Europe, including in Austria, Hungary, and Poland, and was featured in the 1990 Venice Biennale. Knížák faced surveillance and legal issues during the communist era, notably with the band Plastic People of the Universe. In 2010, he received the Medal of Merit for his contributions to art and served as director of the Czech National Gallery in Prague from 1999 to 2011.
