Collection: Martial Raysse

Martial Raysse (1936, Golfe-Juan, France) initially pursued writing at the Faculté des Lettres in Nice but ultimately chose painting. Friends with Yves Klein and Arman, he was a key figure in the early 1960s Nouveau Réalisme movement. Raysse is known for his assemblages using plastic everyday items and later, for his women’s portraits created with projected photographs and sometimes enhanced with neon light.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Raysse continued to evolve, working with simple materials in a more tactile style. His innovative approach and use of diverse mediums make his work a significant contribution to contemporary art.
