Collection: Tom Wesselmann

Tom Wesselmann (1931, Ohio - 2004, New York), a leading figure in Pop Art, created a vibrant contemporary experience through his bold use of color and form, isolating symbols of 1970s America. His work, ranging from paintings and collages to sculptures, critically deconstructs and reassembles everyday images, including white fences and familiar kitchen brands.

Wesselmann first gained prominence in the early 1960s alongside contemporaries like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, contributing significantly to the Pop Art movement. His Great American Nude series, produced between 1961 and 1973, transforms traditional nudes into near-abstract forms with intense colors and dynamic lines, exploring themes of consumerism and desire.

Continuously pushing creative boundaries, Wesselmann also explored laser-cut steel drawings and shaped canvases, expanding his artistic range. His legacy endures through his colorful interpretations of modern life and commercial aesthetics.

At Kunsthandel Meijer, we offer original works and editions by Tom Wesselmann. For more information, please contact us.
